Doom Ladder Championship Rules
1. There are 4 maps to test different skills. They are:
a. Quick fragfest skills.
b. Strategy play in a somewhat larger level.
c. Circle of death "hog the resources" play.
d. Shotgun aiming skills.
In the event of a tie the players should resolve it in the Arena, map 5.
2. The maps used are doom2 map 1, Deth.wad map 1, doom2 map 7 and
Zzone converted to shotguns only.
3. A Match is to use the -timer 15 function to spend 15 minutes in
each map. Players can agree to a longer time but the player with
the vote for the shortest time that is 15 minutes or longer will
control the time.
4. Turbo is 135 with Dmatch 2. You can change this by mutual
agreement but a difference of preferences causes the default to
apply. If a player does not wish to discuss it any further, the
discussion is over.
5. There are 5 categories of Doom Masters:
a. Doom god: the player with the highest percentage of total
match wins.
b. Map 1 Master: the player with the highest percentage of
map 1 wins.
c. Strategy Master: the player with the highest percentage of
map 2 wins.
d. Circle of death master: the player with the highest
percentage of map 3 wins.
e. Shotgun Master: the player with the highest percentage of
map 4 wins.
6. To avoid a player winning one match and claiming the
championship, you must have 1/4 of the total number of matches that
your next runner up has or else you are disqualified until you have
a sufficient number of matches.
7. At the beginning of map 2, 3 & 4, each player will cooperate
and let the other player frag him so that both players enter the
map with no resources. The match begins after the players have
been fragged once and have went out of sight of one another.
8. If the game "hangs" (probably due to a player having call
waiting or someone picking up the phone) the player that is still
in the sirdoom game channel, the one clearly not at fault, wins a
forfeit match. If the dropping player does not become available
again within 10 minutes, he forfeits the balance of the maps
remaining (unless it was agreed to be a one map match).
9. If a champion is challenged by email or conversation to a
match, is offered 3 reasonable "after-hours" (after 6pm weekdays
and 10-10 weekend or holiday days) times for a match by a player in
the top ten of ratings for that kind of championship, and is not
available or forfeits at a set time twice, that champion forfeits
that match to that challenger.
10. Email results to Hat Trick on Cyberspace or to
RalphEvans@AOL.com. Keep it short.
11. Informal matches of less than all 4 maps that were done by
agreement to be part of the of ladder only count to championship in
those maps.
12. The basic premise of these rules is to evaluate players by all
levels of doom play and to avoid player whining.
13. If there are sufficient complaints about a player, a penalty
of match forfeits, or banishment from the ladder, may be assessed
against him/her.
14. If a champion has not defeated 3 of the top 10 players in that
championship category, he may be disqualified.
15. Standings are available on reasonable request (not too often
or at an inconvenient time) and will be posted weekly.
16. A player's statistics may be eliminated with 60 days of
inactivity. If it is feasible, game statistics over 60 days old
will be purged from the active championship standings.
17. If you email results of matches in other levels, and if there
are enough people doing matches in that level, those standings will
also be posted.
